OHA recognizes hospitals and clinic partners participating in Healthcare Provider Resiliency Training

Burnout is characterized by feelings of exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced professional efficacy (WHO, 2019). Nurses are especially susceptible to burnout with incidence rates being as high as 70% (AHRQ, 2015). As burnout continues to permeate the healthcare community, OHA is diligently working on resources and tools to help better address healthcare provider burnout in Oklahoma.

In October of 2023, the OHA launched the Registered Nurse Personal Resilience Enhancement Plan (RN-PREP). This virtual curriculum was developed by Dr. Teresa Stephens of the Medical University of South Carolina and helps trainees form a personal plan of action to cope with the difficulties modern healthcare providers face and mitigate the effects of burnout. The training format is self-paced, virtual, and provides participants with six hours of continuing education credit when complete.

At our Connect 23 conference in November, OHA recognized 12 hospital partners that have partnered with OHA to have their employees complete the PREP training:

Arbuckle Memorial Hospital, Sulphur
Beaver County Memorial Hospital
Coal County General Hospital, Coalgate
DRH Health, Duncan
Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau
Fairview Regional Hospital
Lindsay Municipal Hospital
Muscogee (Creek) Nation Medical Center, Okmulgee
Norman Regional Health System
Northeastern Health System, Tahlequah
Okeene Municipal Hospital
Stillwater Medical Center

OHA’s Health Improvement Initiatives have been funded by the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) since 2009. For more information on how your hospital can be part of the RN-PREP initiative, please reach out to [email protected]. (Eric Finley)
